Privacy Policy

Overdrive Ascent is a free, single-player game. It shows ads, served by Google AdMob, and ads are how the game is paid for. There are no accounts, and we run no analytics of our own. We never see your name, email address or payment details.
In short: your progress stays on your device and in your own iCloud or Google Play Games account. Google receives device and advertising data to show ads, and only with your permission where the law or the platform requires it. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID to handle the one purchase. The rest of this page explains each of these.
The browser version of the game has no ads, no purchase and no cloud saves, so sections 3 to 6 apply to the iOS and Android apps only.
1. The age check
Before the first game, the app asks for your year of birth. The year itself is not stored or sent anywhere. The app keeps only the result: admitted, admitted but under 16, or not admitted.
- Players under 13 cannot play. The minimum is 14 on devices set to South Korea, and 16 on devices set to a country in the European Economic Area.
- Players aged 13 to 15 can play. Every ad request made for them is tagged as coming from someone under the age of consent, and Google then shows them no personalised ads.
Next, the app asks you to accept the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy. The app records which version you accepted, on your device only. No ad is requested before both steps are done.
2. What the game stores on your device
The app's local storage holds your three save slots, with the coins, upgrades, best distances, run counts, landmarks and milestones in each. It also holds your settings (units, music and sound volume, art theme, graphics quality), the outcome of the age check, which terms version you accepted, whether you own Remove Ads, and when the last ad was shown, so ads stay spaced out.
Deleting the app deletes all of this. Using Wipe deletes one save slot.
3. Cloud saves
The app keeps a copy of your save slots in your own platform account, so progress survives a reinstall or a new device:
- iOS: iCloud key-value storage, in the iCloud account signed in on the device. You can turn this off in the game's profile screen, or for the whole app in iOS Settings.
- Android: Google Play Games Saved Games, once you sign in to Play Games. If you do not sign in, nothing is saved there.
These copies go straight from your device to Apple or Google. We cannot read them. Speed run slots are never copied to the cloud.
4. Advertising
The game shows a banner ad, occasional full-screen ads between runs, and optional ads you can choose to watch for a gadget charge. All of them come from Google AdMob. To choose, deliver and measure ads and to prevent ad fraud, Google's SDK in the app collects information such as:
- your device's advertising identifier: the IDFA on iOS (only if you allow tracking, see below) or the Android advertising ID
- your IP address, and the approximate location that can be worked out from it
- device and app details: model, operating system, language, app version
- which ads were shown and whether they were tapped
Google handles this information as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. We receive only aggregate reports from AdMob, such as how many ads were shown. Nothing in those reports identifies you.
Your consent: EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app first shows Google's consent form, before any ad is requested. You can accept personalised ads, reject them, or choose by purpose and by partner. If you reject them, you still see ads, but they are limited or non-personalised and do not use your personal data to target you. You can change your answer at any time under PRIVACY CHOICES in the game's menu.
App Tracking Transparency: iOS
On iPhone and iPad, the app asks for permission to track through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, Google does not receive your device's IDFA. If you already refused personalised ads in Google's consent form, you are not asked at all. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Android
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads. The exact path varies by device.
Removing ads
Buying Remove Ads turns off the banner and the full-screen ads. The optional ads for a gadget charge are still offered, and play one only when you choose to watch.
5. The in-app purchase
Overdrive Ascent offers one purchase, Remove Ads. It is a one-time purchase that also unlocks Speed Run mode. Payment goes through Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see or handle your payment details. Our purchase provider, RevenueCat, loads the price and checks whether you own the purchase. The app contacts RevenueCat when it starts, and again when you buy or restore.
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple / Google | Your payment details and store account, under their own privacy policies | To take the payment and issue the receipt |
| RevenueCat | An anonymous ID generated by the app, the store receipt if you buy or restore, and basic device and app-version details | To show the price, check the receipt, and let a restore bring the purchase back |
| Us | Aggregate sales figures, and whether an anonymous ID owns the purchase | To help with purchase problems |
The anonymous ID is not your name, email address or advertising ID, and we cannot use it to identify you. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
6. Who receives data
| Who | What | When |
|---|---|---|
| Google (AdMob) | Advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, ad interactions | When ads are requested and shown, after the age check and within your consent choices |
| RevenueCat | Anonymous app ID, store receipt, device and app details | At launch, and when you buy or restore |
| Apple (iCloud) / Google (Play Games) | Your save slots | While cloud saves are on or you are signed in |
We do not run our own servers for the game, and there is no analytics or crash-reporting SDK in the app.
7. Children
The game is not directed at children, and players under 13 are turned away at the age check (see section 1). Ad requests are not marked as directed at children. For players aged 13 to 15 they are marked as under the age of consent, so Google shows them no personalised ads. The game has no chat, no user-generated content and no social features. Purchases go through the platform store, where parental controls and Ask to Buy apply.
8. Your rights and choices
- Ads: change your consent under PRIVACY CHOICES (EEA, UK, Switzerland), change tracking permission in iOS Settings, or reset your advertising ID on Android. Buying Remove Ads turns off the banner and full-screen ads.
- Data Google holds: managed through your Google account and the controls described in Google's policy.
- Purchase record: email us and we will ask RevenueCat to delete the record for your anonymous ID. This also removes what restores your purchase.
- Saves: delete the app or wipe a slot on the device. Cloud copies can be removed in your iCloud or Play Games settings.
Depending on where you live, including the EEA, the UK and California, you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your personal data. We hold no personal data about you ourselves, but we will help you reach the providers above. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google.
9. Changes to this policy
When the app starts collecting or sharing anything new, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date above will change.
